Wow! What an incredible journey the last 8 months have been. This website is the culmination of hard work, dedication and learning. I never imagined I would one day call myself a photographer or videographer. I didn’t think I was passionate about it, until the day a great friend put a camera in my hands.
In May of 2024, my great friend Luis called me and asked me if I wanted to shadow him taking pictures for a mutual friend who was playing live at Joe’s Crab Shack in Cocoa Beach, Florida. I happily accepted, not knowing that this would be the moment that would transform my life. I took the worst photos of my life that night.
They were out of focus, blurry and otherwise incredibly terrible compositions. But I was hooked. I wanted to take more pictures. I started to bring my camera with me to every live performance I could in the Orlando area. I gradually began to learn my camera. What was an ISO, Aperture, and Shutter Speed?
One day, it all clicked. I went to a gig and shot in Manual mode for the entire event. I knew how to compensate for overexposed and underexposed images. I invested in better equipment and studio lighting with my meager earnings. I began a professional Instagram to catalogue my portfolio.
Meanwhile, I was learning new things and in-depth editing techniques in post-production. Gone were the days of just adjusting saturation, temperature and tint. I was now in the realm of color-toning, noise-reduction, sharpening, etc.
The demand from local musicians/bands became more complex. They needed videos, and not just photography. So, I started to learn Davinci Resolve and how to shoot for Reels and YouTube.
Today, my craft is evolving to more precise compositions and editing techniques. Not all of my photographs are epic and stunning. However, none of them are blurry. As a result, I’m taking some of the sharpest and most detailed images of my career.
I am excited for what the year 2025 will bring for The Bearded Soul Media. And I hope you all join that journey with me.
